He was originally a fem Hyur because I was upset Viera couldn't wear big hats at the time. Eventually I caved and fantasia'd him into a masc Viera, now he's a fem Viera because I wanted him to have cute emotes and clothes lol.)

[AN] emet... @_@ Before I actually read MSQ I was confused. Confused as to why people liked this ugly dude. Once I FINALLY played Shadowbringers I understood everything. That Rak'tika cutscene changed me and now I've made this website, as you can see HAHA.
Emet-Selch isn't typically the type of character I find myself attracted to but I think his story and his relationship with Vern appealed to so much that it didn't matter. I like Emet, can you tell.

That is until Azem finally confessed to Emet-Selch (Knowing Emet wouldn't confess first) and they became lovers. Azem promised to marry Emet-selch once they chose to retire from the Convocation.

[AN] (I actually didn't understand who Azem was until WAYYY later into finishing Endwalker, then I finally did my research. BUT once I understood who he was I was obsessed like WOW. It solidified my obsession even further. The yaoi runs that deep, like, it IS that serious. After figuring out who he was, I wanted to make him Vern's almost complete opposite, I thought it would be funnier that way. But maybe still having some similarities? With his appearance I tried to design him like... an old childhood friend with a big heart that is bound to die horribly. Did I do well?)

After the first cutscene in Rak'tika I immediately began shipping Emet-Selch and Vern. The infection overtook me SUPER unexpectedly.- I've made cursors, shimejis, and a playlist of them.

- I plan to make an animatic music video, hopefully get custom 3D Models of them????? and plushes.

(!) Around 2015, I first found out about FFXIV from a tumblr artist I followed. They would draw their WoL in silly situations often and it appealed to me greatly. After looking up the game for the first time I found myself interested in the character customization (as well as catboys). I've always enjoyed customization in video games so I thought to give it a try! Unfortunately I had a very shitty PC at the time so I couldn't run it at all!!! BUT later I upgraded to a better PC and was finally able to play it! I made a Miqo'te guy (of course) and began learning the controls. I have played MMOs in the past and never had any friends to play it with so this game was no exception to that. I played solo and while I enjoyed the IDEA of the game, I often found myself dropping the game on and off. Now, I'll admit I did the cardinal sin of skipping MSQ, so you can imagine my attention for the game would run dry pretty quickly with no friends and no story to follow. Years later, around 2019 or so, I finally had a friend group to play the game with. I made a new character, a male Highlander, and played a lot more often, enjoying the game more! ...But I still skipped MSQ. For YEARS I skipped MSQ all the way up to SHADOWBRINGERS. I didn't actually read MSQ until 2023! In 2023 I made a new character, that damn green bunny you see everywhere on this page. I felt a lot more kinship to him than an old highlander man (lol). Then I finally sat down to read the story...
And I'm glad I did cuz WOW. Now I have a whole webshrine for FFXIV. During 2024 is when I began playing Shadowbringers (actually reading it this time). This expansion is definitely where my addiction started....Now we're here. Since 2024 I've been fixated on FFXIV more than any other piece of media in my life. It's kind of crazy, experiencing something like that now rather than my younger years. I'm not sure how to put it into words. Something that I've played since my teenage years and was pretty neutral about, now a BIG interest of mine. It's kind of beautiful lol.
Thanks to FFXIV I started writing and even drawing a LOT more. I also began writing my first ever fanfiction! It's inspired me to take writing more seriously and I've been practicing ever since. My hyperfixation does have it's drawbacks, of course. I can struggle doing self-care for hours on end or even procrastinate on things I SHOULD be doing (It's even happened as I'm making this webshrine lol).
Hopefully I can manage my FFXIV addiction better in the future!!! Thanks for reading!

PROS: it started FFXIV lol.
CONS: SEVERELY outdated storytelling and pacing, some poor voice acting, not a lot of voiced cutscenes.(!) ARR is definitely my least favorite, as it is for everyone else. but WHY is it so ass??? while it is important for establishing the world and introduces important characters, i am completely tuned out when replaying it... a lot of it is insignificant fetch quests with characters you'll barely see again along with milquetoast dungeons. it's a difficult start for newcomers imo. however, i do give it some points for post-arr. post-arr is a lot more vital than the actual main story was.

PROS:
CONS:(!) stormblood is pretty good! i think it's when trials and dungeons started picking up for me, i found them to be a lot more entertaining. i love a lot of stormblood characters but i found myself not really attached to the story that much.
BUT post-stb is so... amazeballs. raubahn's development was so sweet. i love raubahn. also, i love gosetsu and yotsuyu's relationship i wanna die everytime i think about them cuz i get so sad.GOD.
also it introduced emet-selchWHATEVER......

PROS: shadowbrigners
CONS: thancred(!) (drags cig) ahhhh fucxk shadowbringers. i love shadowbringers. all the locations are my fav, the lore is my fav, i love all the random NPCs, i love the faefolk, it has my fav dungeons and trials, i love the scions development.

i also love vauthry as a final fantasy villain and eulmore in general. i'm not personally a fan of war themes that garlamald usually has, so having such a more fantasy enemy like this him was honestly a breath of fresh air.
literally my ONLY complaint is thancred's development. shb would be 10/10 otherwise. thancred's horrible treatment towards ryne is so pathetic and how the writers try to make you try to empathize with him is so absurd. in fact, i disliked it SO much i wrote a fic in the attempt to make his development more empathetic and not make ryne want to kill herself!! cuz she deserves a better parental figure?!?! no hate to you if you like thancred, please note this is my own personal opinion.
like i said, other than that, i love shadowbringers. go play it or replay it again. it's peak.

PROS:
CONS:(!) dt gets a lot of flack for having less scion screen-time and wuk lamat's development overshadowing WoL but overall i had fun playing it and the story didn't hinder it a lot for me. i do wish we got more character development for zoraal ja. i actually feel like he was missed potential and could've been an even greater character.
now somethings that DESERVE critique are the racist implications of the worldbuilding. also the conquistador-inspired armor in the post-game dungeon like WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.???
so far post-dt is kinda snoozers for me. but 7.3 introduced ascians again so HOPEFULLY THINGS WILL GET FUCKING EXCITINGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! REV UP THOSE DAMN FRYERS, YOSHI P!!!!
